NATURAL WONDERS features photographs of the natural world, from sublime landscape vistas to detailed views
of the forest floor. As our relationship to our planet seems increasingly fragile, images that encourage us to appreciate
natural wonders seem ever more important. Juror David Middleton selected forty photographs for exhibition on the
walls of PhotoPlace Gallery and on this website, and another thirty-five for presentation on the website alone in the
"On-Line Gallery Annex." All seventy-five photographs will be included in a full-color exhibition catalogue
to be published with Blurb Books. Our sincere thanks to David for his good humor and discerning eye.
JUROR: David
Middleton is a full-time professional outdoor photographer and writer. David has led more than 150 nature/photography tours and over 200 photography workshops in places such as Alaska, Arctic
Canada, the National Parks of the US, Costa Rica, Ecuador & the Galapagos Islands, Antarctica and the Falkland Islands
for a variety of organizations including the National Audubon Society, the National Wildlife Federation, Voyagers, Maine Photographic
Workshops, the Rocky Mountain School of Photography, and the Santa Fe Workshops. He has published numerous books of
his photographs. Today, David spends most of his time photographing
the rich and wonderful natural and cultural landscapes of New England, a place after many years he is still just getting to
know. He is currently working on a book about Maine lobstermen. To learn more about David’s work and
